Hospitable Environment CIC is a socially engaged arts and wellbeing organisation based in Newhaven East Sussex. We bring people together using creativity and food to explore what it takes to build safe, connected, resilient and sustainable communities. We take a holistic & place-based approach to our work, fostering creativity in people of all ages & abilities. Our programme celebrates culture, arts, place, youth led initiatives, health and wellbeing. Celebrating Sussex and its cultural heritage and cultural future, while encouraging participation - especially among people who might not otherwise have access to creative opportunities.
Hospitable Environment CIC is run by Ellie Jonson-Bullock (an Artist &Therapeutic Wellbeing Practitioner) and Lizzie Lower (a Maker & Creative Producer). In 2023 we hosted more than 1500 people at our (mostly) free events, offering free food to more than 1100 of them. Our studio is at the Hillcrest Centre and we host a lot of our programme within the Centre. We hold regular workshops and events throughout the year.
